Best Deep Conditioner for Black Hair

The best deep conditioner for black hair is more of an opinion but an article like this one can surely give you some good advice.

No matter what texture, color (blonde or black), length or style you must be careful to take care of your hair in the most appropriate way. Good looking hair and healthy hair go hand and hand in my book.

In order to achieve this goal you have to choose the best quality shampoos, conditioners, lotions or oils. A bad quality hair product can have undesirable effect upon the hair which can lead to breakage, splitting and thinning. Black hair or African American hair is exposed to such degradations more than any other hair type.

There are only a few easy steps to follow to obtain the best results. One of them and the first is that you must moisture your hair frequently. Black hair requires moisture and deep conditioning more than other types of hair. If it suffered numerous treatments like chemical relaxers or it has been exposed to heat appliances like flat irons or brutal dries the hair will need weekly deep conditioning. Not to imply that this will be a difficult thing to do. Just know that time will be involved for better results. You must only use an appropriate cream that has the quality to moisture the hair and help it remain healthy or to become healthy again.

***NOTE*** If your hair is badly damaged conditioning won’t fix it but it will help prevent further damage.

Another important step is to find the right Conditioner. Instant or Leave in Conditioners are the best for the black hair and they give it an instant shine. But one disadvantage of these types of conditioners is the fact that they seal the cuticles and coat the strand so much that moisture can’t penetrate. So, it is advisable to use natural hair lotions. It has been said that every product you use is better to be 100% natural, so the results obtained are always one of the better. This is very debatable though.

A conditioner must be absorbed into hair so that it can hydrate the threads of hair. In addition to that some conditioners contain amino acids and essential fatty acids and these two elements are very important for a healthy hair. They improve a lot the condition of the hair. Some also contain almond, coconut, olive, and a host of other hair shaft penetrating moisture rich oils. All these substances bring a contribution of vitamins and minerals. Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Conditioner is said to be one of the best conditioners for African American hair.

There are many on the market that are expensive and some that don’t cost much at all but remember… a cheap conditioner only has the feature of being cheap. It doesn’t do anything more or less. Go with what you are comfortable with at the end of the day.

  • Try Verifen Complex products at hairoil.com, not cheap. Builds up over time and has made a world of difference in my over-processed graying hair. I self perm with super. I know but I still like my hair to be straight. My hair is right above my shoulder blades. I also deep condition for 8 to 24 hours a least once a month. They have 2 different conditioners if your hair is real fine and soft use Moisture Emphasis Conditioner. If you have thick coarse hair use Advanced Conditioning Treatment. Found out the difference because my sister has fine soft hair and my conditioner was too heavy for her hair. I choose to invest in my hair becasue over the counter products leave me with dry, shedding and brittle hair.

  • The best conditioner I have ever used is Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner, the argan oil hydrates and strengthens my hair making it nice and healthy. Plus the extra shine is appreciated! Thanks for the informative article 🙂
