how to do twist outs

Getting some waves to form in your hair can be achieved quite a few ways, but many women find that doing twist outs on their hair creates exceptional waves. The following information provides tips on how to do twist outs by using Bantu Knots and what you will need to make this happen. If done with care, this hairstyle can create waves that will last for a few days and look great the whole time.

First of all, you will need to wash your hair and make sure to use plenty of conditioner. For this hairstyle to work best, the hair needs to be wet when you are doing this. You may need to keep wetting chunks at a time if it starts to dry out. Divide your entire head into four equal sections of hair. Each of these four sections will then be divided into two parts.

Take one part of this divided section and begin twisting it with a circular motion. It should begin to look sort of like a curly fry. Keep twisting it until it is so twisted up that it looks like a large knot. Using a bobby pin, secure this knot in place so that it doesn’t unravel. You will complete each of the sections of hair this way. After all the divisions have been twisted, there will be a total of 8 large knots.

Once all the knots are in place, spray your entire head with water again. You will then need to dry your hair completely, taking care not to unravel the Bantu Knots while you are doing this. It is very easy to bump them if you are using a hand-held hair dryer. The hair dryers that work the best for this hairstyle, and leave your hands free at the same time, are the kind that have a cap to fit over your entire head.

When you know that the hair is completely dry for sure, unravel each knot. You can moisturize your hair after the knots have been taken out and style it however you choose. These nice, easy waves should last quite a few days. One way to make them last a bit longer is by wearing a satin cap at night. This will keep your hair from rubbing too hard on the pillow. Now that you know how to do twist outs with Bantu Knots, you can easily keep these waves going for as long as you like.

  • I;ve been natural for a little over 3 years but I do flat iron my hair most times because I don’t know how to do twist outs or any of the really natural styles I see in the magazines. After viewing a few here, I’m going to give it a try or two and see what I can accomnplish on my own.
