Senegalese Twists Braids

senegalese braids

This Senegalese braids hairstyle picture shows an example of how you can mix colors in with your twists braids for a different look. You should try senegalese twists updos for a more formal or refined look, maybe for the workplace or a special event. Senegalese braids are basically two strand twists using kanekalon or pony hair weave and can be straight at ends or curled.

  • i love this hairstyle, had it all black and it was full, so shiny i barely need to add any oil sheen (with the correct hair).

  • The kanekalon & pony braiding hair can be purchased at most local beauty supply stores or you can try http://www.samsbeautysupply.com. They are based in Chicago, or atleast that’s the city listed on the package.

Not unlike any other braided style, Senegalese twists (which can cost between $160-$240 depending on the length) can pull your hair out if the hair is twisted too tightly or if you have an over abundance of new growth. The hair cant handle the weight of the twists hanging cause of the new growth. If you become short on time taking your twists out, what’s worked for me is putting them up in a bun, but not tight enough to pull the hair too much.

  • What is the recommended length of time to leave these twist in? I have really thick hair and have went as long as 3 1/2 months with Micro Braids in the past but at the time I had a PERM. I have been transitioning for almost 5 months now and have gradually been snipping off all the perm. No I didn’t do the big chop…
