There are different types of french braids on the streets all over the United States. But what we are calling French are really just braid styling options in our community. Even though there are several we only wear our beautiful thirsty roots with a couple.

Normally you won’t see an African American woman or man rocking any of the following styles:

  • Boho Braids (Bohemian)
  • Side Braids
  • Two Side
  • Milkmaid Braids

The styles we are consistently photographed in or sport around town are listed below:

  • Fishtail
  • French
  • Micro
  • Cornrows

Even the updo and mohawk which are really unconventional are tied into the mix.

My goal is to teach myself and others about our beautiful black hair and to have a place where we can come together to get examples, advice, and information of black hair growth and hairstyles. Whether you have permed, pressed, or natural hair its still black hair and it's beautiful.
