At the 2011 Grammys last night, Esperanza Spalding natural hair was stealing the spotlight as she graced the stage to receive her trophy for the Best New Artist Award. As a 26 year old jazz singer, Esperanza Spalding I am sure blew the minds of many when she beat out fellow nominees Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence + The Machine, and Mumford & Sons. She gave a unselfish humble award speech, including the following words:
“I take this honor to heart so sincerely, and I’ll do my damndest to make a whole lot of great music for all of you,” she added. “It’s such a blessing and an honor. God bless. Thank you.”
