Beautiful hair Vicky!

Read on to explore the natural hair journey of ThirstyRoots.com Member Vicky:

TR: How long have you been natural and why do you choose to be natural?

Vicky: I’ve been Natural for 9 month’s. The reason I made a decision to go Natural, when my hair was relaxed I started to notice that my hair was beginning to look thin and I have always had thicker hair. My hair was not growing at all. So I cut off my hair and made the decision to go natural. This is the best thing that I could have done for my hair.. If my hair could talk, she would say ” Thank You”.

TR: How did you deal with the responses from your family and friends?

Vicky: My family members were very negative towards my natural hair. My husband hated my hair and he would not go out with me unless I wore a wig. I refused to wear a wig because I love my natural hair and I was not about to cover it up for nobody. My mother said that I should get a relaxer because that afro look is old fashion. I just ignored everyone and just focused on myself. My husband is starting to like my hair because he is beginning to see that it is growing and he feels that it does not look that bad on me. I am still getting negative comments from some family members but I ignore them..

TR: What is your current hair care regimen?

Vicky: I wash my hair once a week but if I have a protective style I wash it twice a week instead. I use Black soap for my shampoo and I add my Natural oils in the black soap. It makes my hair so soft and manageable. Then I use the V05 Conditioner and for my leave in I use the Cantu Shea Butter, Then I style my hair. I co-wash as well, with the Vo5 Conditioner.

TR: How do you keep your hair moisturized?

Vicky: I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Coconut oil or Shea butter. I also use my homemade shea butter first I melt the shea butter then I add my oils to the mix and when it cools off I use that as well to my hair.

TR: What products and techniques do you use to style your hair?

Vicky: If I want my curls to be more define I use the ECO STYLER Gel with Olive Oil. This gel is awesome, it really works with two strand twists and braid outs.

I also use Hawaiian silky 14 n 1 this helps to define my curls as well. My hair type is 4a combination 4b.

TR: What are your must have products that you use for your hair?

Vicky: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, My homemade shea butter mix, coconut oil. My vitamins one a day for women, Biotin great vitamin and my water.

TR: What are your favorite accessories?

Vicky: Head Bands, flowers, hair clips, bobby pins..

TR: What do you like about being a natural hair diva?

Vicky: I love the fact that I could wear my hair curly, in a afro or if I want I could straightening my hair. Natural Hair is versatile and I love it. I look forward to styling my hair everyday because I enjoy it.  I also have the option of putting my hair in protective style.

TR: Anything else you may want to add?

Vicky: I am very proud of all my Natural hair sisters and myself. We are setting an example to everyone especially the younger generation to embrace how God made us. Natural Hair is beautiful and I am very proud to be part of Natural Hair community..
